Note on UAE’s Next-Gen GPS-Less Navigation and Secure Flight Control

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced two groundbreaking aviation technologies:

  1. Perceptra – A GPS-independent navigation system, ensuring precise location tracking without relying on satellite signals. This vision-based technology enhances operations in environments where GPS is unavailable or compromised.

  2. Saluki – A secure flight control system designed with Zero Trust architecture, featuring Generative AI capabilities and multi-vehicle management support for mission-critical defense and aviation applications.

Key Highlights:

  • These innovations address GPS vulnerabilities, such as jamming and spoofing, which pose risks to aviation security.
  • Developed by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) and integrated into UAVs through a partnership with VentureOne and ADASI.
  • Officially unveiled at IDEX 2025, the Middle East’s largest defense exhibition.
  • Supported by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to ensure regulatory compliance and safe integration into modern airspace.
  • Potential applications include commercial aviation, search-and-rescue missions, defense operations, and urban drone logistics.

These advancements position the UAE as a global leader in aviation security and autonomous navigation, enhancing airspace resilience, operational efficiency, and national defense capabilities.
